What should my intentions be when I sit through a sound bath?

Many people have heard about the amazing experiences their friends and family had when they received their Sound Bath meditation. However, when it’s their turn to try it, they don’t know what to expect for themselves. They are curious and skeptical at the same time. They wonder if they would have the same amazing effects. All these questions and doubts in their minds…

These are our common human reactions when we don’t know what to expect. Our first-time everything is always a mixture of emotions of excitement and fear. The fear of the unknown. The fear of disappointment. What if I don’t get anything out of it? What if my experience is nothing like what I heard?

The secret to a sound bath session is having no expectations. Don’t expect this or that. Go in with an open mind, a mind that anything is possible. The sky is the limit. This can be difficult for most people because we all want to be in control. We all want to know what’s going to happen. This may be the learning lesson in these sound bath spaces – is that we should simply relax into the sound. Whatever sound we hear, it is what it is. Each sound will come, and each sound will go. You can set an intention of “Let the sound energy flow through me…” and then rest your mind.

We let the musical notes take us, and we simply go with the sound ride. Nothing to cling. Nothing to resist. Nothing to like or dislike. The musical notes are just notes. Let them do their thing, and we are just participants in the space to rest, relax, and listen.
